Due to the heavy concentration of high tech firms and manufacturing facilities, Greenville is quickly becoming South Carolina's leading business super center. The ICAR development project (International Center for Automotive Research) will continue this trend and may mark the beginning of a new era in South Carolina where research universities play a major role in leading innovation and business.

Clemson University has partnered with several major Fortune 500 companies in the development of the ICAR research park. The business park will cover 400 acres near I85 and Laurens road. IBM, Microsoft, BMW, Michelin, and The Timken Company have all committed to Clemson's ICAR project. Public and Private commitments to Clemson-ICAR have already topped 180

Despite a national slow down in real estate sales and prices in 2006, the Greenville SC Real Estate market is bucking the trend with stronger year to date sales over last year and an overall increase in median prices over last year (2005) as well. Statistics from the Greenville Multiple Listing service show a grand total of 7861 homes sold from Jan 1st 06 through Sept 30th 2006 while last year’s year to date sold numbers came in at 7189 total units. This is an increase of 9.3% over 2005. Currently median Greenville home prices for 2006 are also up 6.6% over 2005 as well. These numbers reveal a robust and growing real estate market that is backed by a strong demand for new and existing homes. If you consider the numbers, you may very well conclude…

Downtown Greenville is experiencing a nice surge in retail and other commercial development. Publix, an upscale grocery retailer with headquarters based in Florida, is the latest entrance in the downtown Greenville market. Publix will become the second grocer in the downtown area. Greenville’s West Side, known as West End, has been red hot as well with new retail, residential and commercial offerings. Restaurants, shops, and galleries are replacing vacant buildings. The new Greenville Drive stadium is now complete and the overlooking condo development (Field House) is nearing completion as well. Did you know that the median home price for 2006 in the Greater Greenville South Carolina area was only roughly 142,000 dollars! Does this mean we have small and cheaply built homes here? Absolutely not! These numbers reflect that the the average price of a home here is roughly 7-10% below the national average. In other words, a home purchaser here gets more bang for the buck than in many other places in the country. In fact many of my out-of-state home buyers are literally shocked at the size, quality, and affordability of housing here. Posted by Jonathan, 02/16/07.
