Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail
Greenville's Cycling, Biking, Walking and Running Trail:
One of Greenville's unique attractions is the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This trail is just over 13 miles long and was built for outdoor enthusiasts. The southern section connects Greenville Tech's campus to downtown Greenville and the downtown Greenville Parks (Falls Park and Cleveland Park). The northern section of this trail starts in downtown Greenville (see above image, left sidewalk) and heads north, passes Furman University, meanders through Travelers Rest and ends at the Greenville Hospital System's campus in North Greenville. It is a great trail for cyclers, runners, and walkers alike. The whole family can enjoy the trail, its scenic paths, and unique destinations.
When I'm not selling Greenville Real Estate, I love to cycle. So one evening, I grabbed my bike, my camera, and set out for Travelers Rest starting in downtown Greenville. Why don't you join me on my journey for a quick tour of the northern Swamp Rabbit Trail?
Passing by Furman University:
One of my favorite stops along the Swamp Rabbit Trail is Furman University. There are a host of sites and tourist attractions to enjoy on Furman's campus including the Cliffs Cottage, which was a Southern Living Green Showcase Home (now the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability), the Asian Gardens, and the Summer Concert Ampitheatre. Additionally, the Furman campus offers a beautiful lake and some really nice walking trails that meandor around the lake and over some beautiful streams. One of my favorite things to do after a hard cycle is to find a bench along the edge of Furman campus's lake and watch the sun go down.
The Next Stop, Travelers Rest South Carolina
The next stop after Furman University is the small but charming town of Travelers Rest SC. Travelers Rest offers a clean and beautiful downtown that is about 10 miles north of downtown Greenville SC. Travelers Rest sits at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Paris Mountain. Travelers Rest offers visitors plenty of shops, cafes, and other really cool stores and attractions to enjoy.
One very popular stop in Travelers Rest is SunRift Adventures, an outdoor adventures store offering just about anything you need for camping, hiking, cycling, and white water sports. Next time you are in "TR," be sure to stop in and visit the friendly folks at SunRift.
Now it is time to head back to Furman to watch a beautiful sunset. Well, this wraps up my brief tour of Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail. I sincerely hope to see you out and about on the Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail!
Just outside of Greenville heading towards Travelers Rest on the left of the trail is another popular stop, Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery--a store dedicated to locally grown or raised foods. They are a small grocery store replete with a lunch/snack menu and coffee bar.
Now for all the avid cyclist, runners, and athletes out there, I'm going to recommend my favorite nutritional beverage. It is called Viaviente. It is a powerhouse of naturally occuring vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, all in an easy to consume beverage. Viaviente offers one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants per ounce serving, if not the highest of just about anything on the market today. It is also designed with a slightly alkaline PH to help reduce lactic acid buildup and help maintain a proper ph within the body. I pour a little in my bike bottle and I'm good to go! Cheers, Jonathan.
